What is the difference between Nude, Boudoir, Glamour and other photos
Understanding the Art and Industry of Boudoir, Nude, Glamour, Erotic, and Adult Photography
In today’s digital era, ignorance is no longer a lack of access—it’s a choice. With the internet at our fingertips, we have the ability to educate ourselves on virtually any topic. Yet, I’ve found that misconceptions still run rampant, particularly when it comes to the modelling and photography industries.
Recent events in my personal life have shed light on how little some people understand about my career as a model and artist. It doesn’t bother me—I’ve never hidden my past, misrepresented myself, or shied away from my accomplishments. In fact, I am proud of my journey. I’ve built a career as an artistic nude model, photographer, and advocate for women’s empowerment. My work spans multiple industries, but there’s one thing it has never been: a secret.
That said, I find it both amusing and frustrating when strangers—men I’ve never met, some of whom have even blocked me on social media—feel entitled to comment on my profession, labelling me as something I am not. The biggest misconception? That modelling in the adult industry equates to being a sex worker.
Let’s get one thing straight: not everyone in the adult industry is a sex worker, and not every form of nude or sensual photography falls under that category.
As someone who has spent years in this space—both as a model and now as a photographer—I want to take a moment to educate those who may not fully understand the distinctions between different types of modelling and photography. My goal has always been to uplift and empower women, whether through my art, my teachings, or my advocacy. This article serves as an opportunity to bring clarity to a subject that is often misunderstood.
Breaking Down the Different Genres of Photography & Modelling
Boudoir Photography
Boudoir is intimate, suggestive, and emotionally driven—but never explicit. The purpose of boudoir is to capture confidence, sensuality, and empowerment in a tasteful, artistic manner. It is meant to tease the imagination without revealing too much. Many women use boudoir photography as a form of self-love, self-expression, and empowerment.

Nude Art Photography & Fine Art Modelling
Nude photography, when approached from an artistic perspective, is about form, movement, and expression—not sexual gratification. Many of the greatest works of art throughout history depict the human body in its most natural state. As a movement-based conceptual artist, my goal has always been to celebrate and showcase the beauty of the female form—not to sexualise it.

Glamour Photography
Glamour modelling emphasises beauty, confidence, and allure. It is often used for commercial purposes such as calendars, advertisements, and magazine spreads. Unlike boudoir, which is more about emotion and storytelling, glamour photography focuses on creating an aspirational, often unattainable image of seduction and beauty.

Erotic Photography
Erotic photography is intended to be overtly sexual and provocative. It is a step beyond boudoir and glamour, designed to evoke passion and desire. While some erotic photography is artistic, it is explicitly sensual in nature. However, it is important to distinguish erotic photography from pornography, as the intention and presentation differ significantly.

Pornography
Pornography is content explicitly created for sexual arousal. This can take the form of images, videos, or other media featuring individuals engaging in sexual acts. Unlike erotic photography, which may have artistic merit, pornography is created with the primary purpose of stimulation.
Sex work often falls under this category, as professionals in this industry charge for their content and services.
This is the one industry that I have personally never been involved with nor have any experience in; other than my studies in Sexology (which has nothing to do with the act or experience in pornography or as a sex worker)
It's important to remember that art is subjecvtive
The Business of Modelling & Photography
Regardless of the genre, professional models charge for their time, skill, and expertise—just as any consultant, freelancer, or creative professional would. Each niche within the industry requires its own unique skill set, and not every model can transition seamlessly between genres. A great nude art model may not be comfortable with boudoir, just as a glamour model may not be suited for erotic photography.
My own journey began in a standard photography setting, where I took a leap and tried a boudoir shoot. That single experience transformed the way I saw myself. As a mother and a woman, it deepened my appreciation for my body and led me to explore the artistic expression of the female form. Over time, my passion evolved beyond modelling into photography and education—helping other women embrace their sensuality, find empowerment through self-expression, and understand the nuances of this industry.
Empowerment Through Education
For years, I’ve mentored and educated aspiring models—not just on the artistry of their work, but on the realities, dangers, and misconceptions that come with it. I have always been a strong advocate for informed decision-making, especially when it comes to entering any industry that involves nudity or sensuality. My workshops have never been about encouraging women to pursue sex work, but rather about ensuring they understand their choices and the long-term impact those choices can have.
